Feature & Follow Friday #12

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Every week, 2 blogs will be featured allowing everyone to discover some new blogs!

I would really appreciate it if you followed me through GFC or Bloglovin', leave a comment below and I would definitely follow back! :) You can also follow/friend me through Goodreads or Twitter!

Question of the week: How many books have you got on your TBR list?

I am not really sure if this refers to my physical TBR or my Goodreads list of books that I would love to read someday so I shall talk about both!

My physical TBR consists of about 60-70 books. I can't seem to get this down because of all the books I borrow from the library. I am in no hurry to reduce my physical TBR but it would be nice to get to them soon! (if only I could stop myself from borrowing so many books every week)

My current list of TBR books on Goodreads stands at 393. I do go in regularly to weed out those that I am no longer interested in so this is a rather accurate gauge of books that I would love to read in my lifetime! :)

How about you? How many books do you have on your TBR?

Question of the week: How do you write your reviews?

I try and take notes as I read, either on my computer or on my phone but sometimes I am just not in the mood for it so I leave reviewing to the end. I don't review all the books I read, there are just so many that I don't feel strongly about so there really isn't much to say :/

I usually make sure I cover the following main points:
- Writing
- World Building
- Romance/the feels
- Characters (development, likability, relatability)
- Plot (pacing, predictability etc.)

I also try to keep it spoiler-free! I will always indicate if there are spoilers in the review.

How do you write yours?

LIFE UPDATE

I got my laptop back from the Apple hospital around midweek and during the 4 days of being laptop-less I managed to get a lot of reading done! This week was mostly me procrastinating about compiling my portfolio and me reading A TON for Bout of Books. :) It feels so good that I got to read as much as I did. I will be continuing with #crushyourtbr this weekend and continue on my reading streak~

p.s. my international giveaway is ending in 11 days!

EBOOKS

A Court of Thorns and Roses: All the hype got to me and I LOVE Beauty and the Beast, I had to get it! I've read it and its soooo good! Review will up either tomorrow or on Monday.

(BORROWED) AUDIO BOOKS

The Giver series: I marathon-ed through the first two books during the week and I just started on Messenger.

(BORROWED) PHYSICAL BOOKS

Written in Red: I got the ebook last week but I saw this at the library so I decided to get it. :)
Confessions of a Shopaholic & Shopaholic Takes Manhattan: I read this series nearly 8 years ago and I can barely remember anything about it so I am going to be rereading this!
Code Name Verity: I've been meaning to check this out for the longest time!
Vicious: Everyone loves this so why not.
Penguin 75: Designers, Authors, Commentary: There is a library here that has an entire floor filled with design reference books and I decided to borrow this book filled with eye candy!

Question of the week: How do you organize your books? Either at home on your bookshelves or on your reading-device, or on your bookish platform.

Bookshelf at home
My bookshelf is rather disorganised at the moment...Its only organised by read or unread and all the books of a series are placed together but that is about it. It is more of a storage space than a display case. I kinda like it this way though, gives it a bit of personality! :P

Kindle
My kindle books are only organised as read and unread. I am using the old non-touch screen kindle so it is kind of a pain to organise the books into more categories.
My books are categorised according to a TON of categories/genres/reading status etc. That is my favourite feature on Goodreads. :)

LIFE UPDATE

There isn't really much going on with my life. I am still bumming around and enjoying post-graduation but I am going to start looking for a job next week after I send my laptop for a battery replacement today (Saturday)! Hopefully everything goes well and I will be able to get it back in 3-4 days. :) Since my huge book haul last week, I managed to regain my sanity and hold back on buying anymore books. So it is a rather small haul this week.

Also, my international giveaway is ending in 18 days! Don't forget to take part and help me share it if you are a little angel :P

EBOOKS

An Ember in the Ashes: I have been anticipating this and I really hope to read it this month!
Crewel: I got this for a book club that I am in: YA Fiction Addiction Club. We are reading this until May 21 so feel free to join us if you have always wanted to read Crewel! :)
Written in Red: This has insane ratings on Goodreads and I HAVE to check it out!
Soulless: Lindsey Rey from Youtube is always talking about this series and I am convinced!

(BORROWED) AUDIO BOOK

Gone Girl: Everyone loves this book and even though I am not a huge fan of thriller/mystery books, I am going to give this a go and hopefully listening to it on audiobook would really help with the usual issues I have with reading the physical thriller/mystery books. (pacing is usually a big problem for me)

Question of the week: How do you decide what books to read?

I usually decided on what to read/buy next based on the following factors:

1. Synopsis
I think everyone can agree that this is the most important factor! If a book's synopsis sounds intriguing and new to me, I would most definitely pick it up. Genre plays a big part too, I am usually more lenient with genres I enjoy. :)

2. Author
If I've read something by this author and at least mildly enjoyed any previous works, I would pick up any other books by that author. I am loyal like that. Rinse and repeat until I read a really bad piece of work then I would most likely stop reading his/her books. Obviously if an author behaves badly (eg. react badly to a negative review  *cough*TheSelection*cough*) I would NEVER buy his/her work and would only MAYBE borrow it from the library.

3. Reviews
If I am not entirely convinced by the synopsis and have never read anything by the author. I would turn to the reviews on Goodreads and read both the positives and the negatives to get a feel on the book. This is usually a pretty accurate method for me but I do read as many reviews as it takes for me to be sure so sometimes it takes forever...

4. Mood
And finally, The Mood. We all know how it is.

In conclusion, it takes me forever to decide on my next read.

LIFE UPDATE

I've already posted some life updates in my recent wrap up post so I will not repeat it here. I do have an international giveaway to celebrate my graduation, do check it out! :) I did not get any books two weeks ago but since then, I was in an insanely good mood and splurged to celebrate so be prepared for a decent-sized haul below. On to the books!

EBOOKS

Salt & Stone: I read Fire & Flood a few days back and really enjoyed it and I can't wait to continue with the series! This is probably my next read. :)
Golden Boy: I have never read a book like this and I am really interested to learn more about lgbt issues.

(BORROWED) PHYSICAL BOOKS

The Sky is Everywhere: I found a really cool edition of this that is made to look like a diary of sorts with random inserts of poems and pictures, it seems to really add something to the story. I am excited for this!
Gilead & Housekeeping: I've been hearing a lot about Gilead and since Housekeeping was sitting right next to this in the library I decided to pick it up too! Both of these have won many awards and I am trying to read more award-winning novels. :)
Me Before You: I've been meaning to read a Jojo Moyes and this seems to be a good starting point.

Obsidian: I've been contemplating about getting the first bind up for this series but I'm not sure if I would like it so I am going to 'sample' the first instalment before getting the bind up! *fingers crossed*
The Shore: This cover caught my eye on the "New Arrivals" shelf in the library and I was intrigued after reading the summary. It is basically a collection of short stories about women.
This Is How You Lose Her: I've been meaning to try something by Junot Diaz and I think this short novel would be a great sneak peek!
Mrs Dalloway: Gotta read more classics! Plus this cover is gorgeous.

Chew Volume #1-#4: I was literally jumping with joy when I saw these at the library. I've seen so many booktubers raving about this and I really wanted to check this out! I've finished this since then and THEY WERE AMAZING! I will be reviewing this soon!

(BOUGHT) PHYSICAL BOOKS

A Darker Shade of Magic: Thrifted this for half the actual price and it is in perfect condition! Great great great find! :)
A Clash of Kings: I got this brand new from a local bookstore at an amazing price!! I haven't read the first book in the series yet but I couldn't pass this up. :P
Firefight: I haven't read the first in this series either but I thrifted this for only $5 \O/
Still Alice: This sounds so intriguing! I can't wait to read this.

The Ghosts of Heaven & Killing the Dead: These came as a bundle, what a steal! I've seen the reviews of these on Goodreads and it seems like Marcus Sedgwick's writing style is not for everyone. I am eager to see how I feel about it! :)
Little Women: Yup! More classics, from now on I shall just use #EeReadsClassics to explain all my classic purchases :P This cover is gorgeous and it was only going for $10 at the bookstore!
The Narrow Road to the Deep North: I thrifted a hardcover of this and I got a really good deal! It is kinda beat up though.

The Picture of Dorian Gray: Love this cover and I got it for a great price from the school bookstore! #EeReadsClassics
Farenheit 451: I love this anniversary edition! #EeReadsClassics
The Tinder Box: I have loved his tales since I as a child and I am excited to reread them.
The Beautiful Cassandra: Jane Austen!!! I really love these adorable penguin classics and they are simply to-die-for!

Harry Potter Special Edition Paperback Box Set: Do I really need to explain this gorgeous purchase? It was worth every cent! <3
