Feature & Follow Friday #11

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Every week, 2 blogs will be featured allowing everyone to discover some new blogs!

I would really appreciate it if you followed me through GFC or Bloglovin', leave a comment below and I would definitely follow back! :) You can also follow/friend me through Goodreads or Twitter!

Question of the week: How do you write your reviews?

I try and take notes as I read, either on my computer or on my phone but sometimes I am just not in the mood for it so I leave reviewing to the end. I don't review all the books I read, there are just so many that I don't feel strongly about so there really isn't much to say :/

I usually make sure I cover the following main points:
- Writing
- World Building
- Romance/the feels
- Characters (development, likability, relatability)
- Plot (pacing, predictability etc.)

I also try to keep it spoiler-free! I will always indicate if there are spoilers in the review.

How do you write yours?
p.s. I have an ongoing international giveaway for a book of your choice! :)
Leave links to your Feature & Follow down in the comments below and I'll surely drop by!

  3. I talk about pretty much the same categories in my reviews, I feel like those are the main things that can make or break a book.

    1. I agree! Some times just one lousy factor can spoil the whole book :/

  5. I try to discuss the things that you listed. I also try really hard to not include spoilers. I don't want to ruin it for someone else. Old follower!

  6. Hopping through. That sounds about how I write my reviews. I don't have the elements laid out, but that's generally what I like to cover.

  7. I agree on the spoilers. I try to keep them out but if I must include something than I indicate verbally very well to let readers know to stop reading if they don't want to be spoiled.

    1. Yes! I get quite annoyed when I read a review with spoilers that are not clearly indicated.

      I followed back! :)

  8. I'm such a perfectionist that it takes me a while to think of what to write and then I just hope that I can get it down the way I had it in my head.

  9. Nice response :D I usually just wing it. Sometimes I feel like I should take notes or whatnot but I end up not doing that.

  11. I also highlight passages/quotes or write notes on post-its to help me remember to reference stuff in my reviews.

  12. I do the same thing with my reviews. I make sure I cover the same main topics that you do. I do review every book I read though, even mediocre ones. I like to give my opinion of everything I read. I don't take any notes while I'm reading. I think I probably should but I just can't take the time away from the story to do that. But it would be helpful when I get to writing the actual reviews a few days later.

  13. Great idea! Those are seriously all the points I'm thinking of when I decide whether or not I enjoyed a book! I agree about spoilers! Sometimes it's hard not to include them, so when I do, I warn readers, too!
