Sorry this post is late! I was at a book sale the whole of yesterday (there was also a Body Shop sale and Food Expo there) and my boyfriend came over to my place so I didn't have time to post. I had a great time at the book sale and I managed to get 3 books for a total of only $14 (usd$10)!! Scoreeeee! I was expecting to get more books but the sale mainly consisted of old stocks and a TON of the divergent series. There is going to be another book sale next weekend and I am hoping to get more books then.
I also participated in Armchair BEA this past week and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! I couldn't post everyday or participate in all the Twitter parties (so many were held at 6-7am local time) but I managed to make it for 2 of them and it was so fun! I got to know so many other book bloggers and even discovered a few more Singapore book bloggers (yay!). I love how I am no longer talking to myself on Twitter :P
I am thinking of joining the #TBRTakedown Readathon hosted by Shannon @ Leaninglights next week but I promised myself that I would start looking for a job next week so I am conflicted :P I guess I could do both but I wouldn't be able to finish all 5 books heh.
BOOK HAUL
click the covers to go to its Goodreads page
The Goldfinch: This is an oversized paperback with an original retail price of $29 and I got it for $8 :D
Middlesex: I've been looking for an affordable copy of this book for ages but they were all around $17-$20 so I never got them and I am so glad I waited! This was $3!!! I still can't believe it :P I've never read a book about a character struggling with gender issues so I am stoked!
Freedom: I think this book got a decent amount of hype when it first came out? (I am not really sure) But after reading the reviews of it on Goodreads, it seems highly controversial and a lot of drama surrounds. This just makes the book all the more exciting, doesn't it? :P
P.S. I Still Love You: I am about a 100 pages in and it seems a little draggy and boring. I hope it gets better!
The Invasion of the Tearling: I requested this from netgalley ages ago and recently got approved! While I wasn't a huge fan of The Queen of the Tearling, I enjoyed it enough to give it 4 stars. Can't wait to see if the second book is better! Btw, this is coming out in a few days!

Middlesex is such a good book but beware it's not a light read! Your copy is also sooooo pretty oh my god. I own The Secret History by Donna Tartt but I haven't read it yet, I keep putting it off because it's such a big book :/
ReplyDeleteI am counting on it being a serious read! :P The Goldfinch is huge too! Its probably going to take me awhile before I get to it haha.
DeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
What a bargain you got! I have all three of the books you bought but shamefully have not read any of them yet! Good luck with the job hunting :)
ReplyDeleteLet me know whenever you read them, we could do it together! :) Thank you!
DeleteAh, I've been more or less waiting to read PS I Still Love You! Especially after that ending in the first book, sigh. But I hope it gets better for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to the book sale on Saturday! Maybe I'll see you there? Hehe.
Maryam @ Captain Swan Bookishhh
Yes I hope it gets better too! Haha I might be going on Friday to avoid the weekend crowd! :P
DeleteThanks for dropping by!
Nice haul. It's so great to find bargain treasures at a book sale.
ReplyDeleteI have never read a Jenny Han YA so I really want to try them! Also, the Tearling series is so on my list of desperate to reads so I must check Queen out!
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower :)
Check out my haul here
Jade @ Ink Scratchers
I think her books are quite overhyped though, none of her books have really lived up to the hype but it is still a fun read! Queen of the Tearling was really fast paced and I enjoyed it quite a bit, I hope you'll like it too! :)
DeleteThanks for following and stopping by!
Am keen to read the Donna Tartt so looking forward to hearing what you think of it!
ReplyDeleteI have heard good things abut The Goldfinch. I got The Invasion of Tearling as well this week. I hope you love all your new books.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
Your blog is just gorgeous! I've heard wonderful things about both Middlesex and The Goldfinch -- it's awesome you were able to snag them for such good prices!
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much! :) Yes, it was a real steal!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I still haven't read To All the boys I 've loved before but it's on my TRL this summer. So hopefully I will get to it soon. Good deals on your books. Happy Reading.

I also hauled (and finished) P.S. I Still Love You this week as well! I didn't like it quite as much as To All the Boys I've Loved Before, but I still really enjoyed it. The plot is a little lacking, but it picks up in the second half.
ReplyDelete-Monica @ Tomes Project
Thanks for the heads up, I am really struggling with the lack of plot right now :/
DeleteBook sales are amazing! :) And I love connecting with bloggers so congrats on finding some in your own time zone.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the job hunt.
