spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating , hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Title: Maybe in Another Life
Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid
Publication Date: July 7th 2015
Pages: 352
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life.

She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?

In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps, most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?

Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: Oh this sounds really intriguing and I can't wait to see how this idea of a soul mate works out in the concurrent storylines! Also, this sounds like the kind of chick lit that I would really enjoy.

Cover: Its beautiful! I love the simplicity of it.

Waiting on Wednesday #10

spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating , hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Title: The Invasion of the Tearling
Author: Erika Johansen
Publication Date: June 9th 2015
Pages: 480
Genre: Adult Fantasy
Series: The Queen of the Tearling #2
With each passing day, Kelsea Glynn is growing into her new responsibilities as Queen of the Tearling. By stopping the shipments of slaves to the neighboring kingdom of Mortmesne, she crossed the Red Queen, a brutal ruler whose power derives from dark magic, who is sending her fearsome army into the Tearling to take what is hers. And nothing can stop the invasion.

But as the Mort army draws ever closer, Kelsea develops a mysterious connection to a time before the Crossing, and she finds herself relying on a strange and possibly dangerous ally: a woman named Lily, fighting for her life in a world where being female can feel like a crime. The fate of the Tearling —and that of Kelsea’s own soul—may rest with Lily and her story, but Kelsea may not have enough time to find out.

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: Yes yes yes! It seems like we are going to get to know more about the Crossing and there is going to be more world building in general. That was probably the biggest problem I had when I read The Queen of the Tearling and I am so glad that it is going to be addressed in the second book! I can't wait for more adventures with Kelsea~

Cover: Hmm. The cover for the first book was GORGEOUS and this really pales in comparison. From a design view point, the composition could have been a lot better. Either shrink the size of the title or shrink the silhouette of the queen. She needs some headroom!

Waiting on Wednesday #9

spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating , hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Title: Finding Audrey
Author: Sophie Kinsella
Publication Date: June 9th 2015
Pages: 288
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Shopaholic series comes a terrific blend of comedy, romance, and psychological recovery in a contemporary YA novel sure to inspire and entertain.

An anxiety disorder disrupts fourteen-year-old Audrey’s daily life. She has been making slow but steady progress with Dr. Sarah, but when Audrey meets Linus, her brother’s gaming teammate, she is energized. She connects with him. Audrey can talk through her fears with Linus in a way she’s never been able to do with anyone before. As their friendship deepens and her recovery gains momentum, a sweet romantic connection develops, one that helps not just Audrey but also her entire family.

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: I think this is Kinsella's first YA? Correct me if I am wrong. I love how she is addressing a serious topic and I am excited to see how this turns out! I never knew her Shopaholic series was adult, I read those when I was 14... In my defence, I stumbled across them in the school library but then again, I don't remember anything really inappropriate about them.

Cover: I love the simplicity in this one and I like how she blends into the background. It probably parallels how she feels about suffering from anxiety disorder, she shrinks away from everyone.

Publication Date: June 16th 2015
Pages: 400
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
When Ivy Emerson’s family loses their house—complete with her beloved piano—the fear of what’s to come seizes her like a bad case of stage fright. Only this isn’t one of her single, terrifying performances. It’s her life.

And it isn’t pretty.

Ivy is forced to move with her family out of their affluent neighborhood to Lakeside, also known as “the wrong side of the tracks.” Hiding the truth from her friends—and the cute new guy in school, who may have secrets of his own—seems like a good idea at first. But when a bad boy next door threatens to ruin everything, Ivy’s carefully crafted lies begin to unravel . . . and there is no way to stop them.

As things get to the breaking point, Ivy turns to her music, some unlikely new friends, and the trusting heart of her disabled little brother. She may be surprised that not everyone is who she thought they were . . . including herself.

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: This sounds like a delicious (possible) love triangle with a lot of drama and I love me some drama~ I also really look forward to reading a good riches to rags story *evil laughs*

Cover: I should just admit that my Waiting for Wednesday posts are really mostly about gorgeous book covers but that's how I go about choosing books to read...Love love love this book cover and art style, the only gripe I have is that the author's name is really hard to read. I don't understand this trend of using super skinny and stretched typography for books. Readability is key!

In the tradition of Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic, one girl chooses to change her fortune and her fate by falling in love.

Love is real in the town of Grimbaud, and Fallon Dupree has dreamed of attending high school there for years. After all, generations of Duprees have successfully followed the (100% accurate!) love fortunes from Zita’s famous Love Charms Shop to happily marry their high school sweethearts. It’s a tradition. So she is both stunned and devastated when her fortune states that she will NEVER find love.

Fortunately, Fallon isn’t the only student with a terrible love fortune, and a rebellion is brewing. Fallon is determined to take control of her own fate—even if it means working with a notorious heartbreaker like Sebastian. Will Fallon and Sebastian be able to overthrow Zita’s tyranny and fall in love?

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: This sounds amazing! I love how they are taking revenge on the 'fortune teller', this sounds hilarious already. Such a creative twist on the typical love story, I am excited for this one! :)

Cover: OMG THIS IS AMAZING, I AM WILLING TO BUY THIS JUST FOR THE COVER ALONE. THIS IS A WORK OF ART. I love this flat design, the use of colours and the composition are all spot on! The graphic artist and/or the designer are geniuses!

Author: Becky Albertalli
Publication Date: April 7th 2015
Pages: 320
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: I don't read enough LGBT and this one just sounds so fun! I haven't read a novel set in high school for a long time and I can't wait for the drama that ensues.

Cover & Title: I love the grungy texture and the typography. The title is also so creative and it really dig it! :)

Title: Royal Wedding: A Princess Diaries Novel
Author: Meg Cabot
Publication Date: June 2nd 2015
Pages: 448
Genre: Adult Romance
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding--but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia's gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn't need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother's leaked "fake" wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia's father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone--especially herself--that she's not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: Does the blurb even matter!? Its Princess Diaries!!!! Welcome back Mia and Michael <3 I grew up with this series and learned about love and life through Mia, this series will always have a special place in my heart!

Cover: Love it! Probably the best cover in the entire series :)

Title: The Rest of Us Just Live Here
Author: Patrick Ness
Publication Date: August 27th 2015
Pages: 352
Genre: Young Adult Fiction
What if you weren’t the Chosen One?

What if you’re not the one who’s so often the hero in YA fiction; who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death? What if you were like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again. Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life. Even if your best friend might just be the God of mountain lions...

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: OMG! I love Mikey already, he sounds like he would be an amazing anti-hero. And I also love that it is kind of apocalyptic(?) and the hint at the fantasy at the end ahhhh!

Cover: HANDS DOWN BEST COVER I'VE SEEN THUS FAR. This would be an amazing poster! Love love love the typography, composition, colours and the graphic.

As the two become unexpected allies, they uncover far-reaching conspiracies, hidden magic, and a love that may be their undoing. In a palace built on unbelievable wealth and dangerous secrets, can Rachelle discover the truth and stop the fall of endless night?

Inspired by the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood, Crimson Bound is an exhilarating tale of darkness, love, and redemption.

MY THOUGHTS

Blurb: Yes! Another retelling! This sounds so intriguing and who doesn't love a bad-ass-creature killing female protagonist?
Cover: THIS IS AMAZING ON SO MANY LEVELS. The depth, framing, colours and typography have been put together so well! Can't wait to see it IRL.

Question to you: Should I read Cruel Beauty, also by Rosamund Hodge and also a fairytale retelling (Beauty and the Beast)?

This is the sequel to To All the Boys I've Loved Before and I really really really hope that 80% of the book would just be sweet cute gooey romance. I can only deal with 20% of maybe-i-still-love-the-other-boy.
