Summary: One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Review: Its been awhile since I've read a book that didn't bore me at some point. Kudos to Veronica Roth! This was so much better than Divergent!!! I remember saying something about how unrealistic it was for the entire population to be divided into 5 factions in Divergent and well that problem was rectified in Insurgent. Insurgent was so amazing, it was action packed, had so many exciting plot twists, a little bit of romance and a lot of psychology/sociology elements.

I would say that Insurgent had a more serious tone compared to Divergent and it made it extremely exciting. I couldn't put it down! The pacing was amazing and secrets were reveled every other page. Readers were kept guessing on who was making the right decisions and who to trust throughout the book. The characters were no longer classified in black & white and everyone fell in this grey area where we didn't know what they were going to do next.

Another thing that I really liked is knowing more about the other factions since Tris spent some time in each faction in Divergent. We didn't really get to know much about the other 3 factions in Divergent other than its motto/vision so it was really fun when my initial presumptions about a certain faction was overturned.

I loved how all the loss that Tris has experienced has affected her in many ways. It makes her a much more realistic character and I found myself liking her a lot more as the story progressed.

Overall, nothing in Insurgent stood out as bad for me so this definitely deserves five stars. This should honestly be made into a movie, its going to be a better movie than The Hunger games. Insurgent ended with a cliffhanger *sobs*, until next year then.

My rating:

Recommended for anyone who enjoyed Divergent and want to see what happened after the escape.
