Summary:
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Review: This was an okay read and you would probably enjoy it more if you do not go in with very high expectations. Its a very light and fluffy book, that is a good book to read between heavy scifi/fantasy books. There were some parts that made me go 'Awwww' but not really quite enough for a contemporary romance novel.

The protagonist, Belly, is a pretty self-centred, possessive and overall childish girl. It was kind of annoying but this is a young adult book so I guess it is kind of a given? :P The brothers were kind of one dimensional in this but perhaps we would know more about them in the sequels! I may or may not be continuing with this series. I will possibly read the sequels if I run out of contemporary books.

I would recommend books by Rainbow Rowell or Stephanie Perkins instead if you are looking for a good contemporary romance novel!

My rating:

Recommended for anyone who is looking for a very light and cute read!

  1. I think indeed a main character like this is sort of given in YA books, which is a shame really.
Usually when I look for a book and it says "16 year old girl with this and that name" as the first line of the synopsis I almost always turn it down immediately, suspecting yet another immature main character. Maybe it's just me who is old though ;)

    1. Yes I agree! Which is why I absolutely love it when I come across a YA book with a more mature protagonist. Sometimes it is such a pity that a good story is ruined because of the character :/

Hahah I feel like I go through the 'i am too old for this' phase once in awhile, but I always go back to YA :P Btw, new follower on your blog! :)

    2. Yes, me too. I have tried some new adult also, but at least the ones I read didn't have more mature characters, just more sex. So that was disappointing. I think I will always love YA, there is just something special about it :)

    3. Hahah yes, is NA just an excuse for some erotica-YA mash up? :P I've only read a few NA books and sad to say, I pretty much have no more interest in that genre.
