Review:  I expected so much more from the second book in the series. I would say that overall, I enjoyed The Iron Daughter more than The Iron King. Megan was a lot less annoying and so much stronger. What I didn't really like was her indecisiveness when it comes to the matters of the heart. I was rooting for Ash at the end of The Iron King but I found myself cheering Puck on in this one.

My favourite character in the previous book was Grim but it is definitely the Iron Horse in this one, I loved his booming voice. I always make it sound extra loud in my head. :) Another thing I really enjoyed was the ending of this book! It is a good cliff hanger which kind of concludes things in a way although we all know for sure that it is not going to be the end of Megan's adventures.

Moving on to the things I didn't really like about The Iron Daughter. First up, it is kind of the same backbone structure of book one. Something is stolen, Megan decides to find it, planning goes underway, she finds the said stolen something and returns it to where it belongs. The plot outline was boring, there really wasn't much that went unpredicted. I wanted more drama with the action! The details within it however were really good.

This series should really be turned into a movie, the visuals were amazing! Overall, I enjoyed the fast pace of this book and the action. I just wished that there was a variety in the plot. The next book in the series is The Iron Queen and I have a feeling I know who that would turn out to be. The series seems to be changing in direction so hopefully there would not another stolen item...

Recommended for anyone who loves fae, enjoys reading about an adventure with a cute love triangle in it.

I have been looking out for the first 3 books so I really can't wait to read them!! I have The Iron Daughter on my iPad but I stumbled upon the paperback in the library, so why not! :)

I've watched the movie for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close but the book is a lot better according to my friend so I am giving it a go! For Freakonomics, I've always wanted to read it. Its sounds so interesting!

This is an Iron Fey novella that should be read between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter. I thought it was a great add-on to the series. It was thrilling and exciting and made me want to pick up The Iron Daughter immediately.

Review: Let me start off by saying that this is my first fae book. I have tried reading other stories but I just never really got the whole fae thing. I picked up The Iron King to see what all the hype was about and stuck through it just to say that I've read at least one fae book. That was my initial thoughts, until about page 200. In the beginning, I just didn't really get into the book. I hated the school scenes and the explanation about the fae world was drowning me since I haven't read any similar ones before and also because I was cranky about having to work 6 days in a row.
But then I started to get the world and the characters and the rest is history.

First, lets talk about the characters. I really liked how all the characters played a part in the plot instead of just the main lead charging ahead. It gave a nice variation and my favourite was Grimalkin, he was funny, cute, cool, nice, witty, sarcastic and he is a cat! :)
Megan Chase was great at times but a little too weak at times. A really odd character I would say. Her I-would-die-for-everyone spirit was sweet (I guess) but honestly, if you are just going to stand there and let monsters kill you I don't see how that's going to help anyone. Her life had to be saved like 6 times by 3 different people throughout the book and the only time she wasn't being a damsel in distress is towards the end when she confronted the Iron King. I am really hoping that I will like her better in The Iron Daughter.
I can't wait to find out more about Ash, he is so mysterious and hot! *swoons* In real life, I prefer guys like Puck but I absolutely adore bad boys when it comes to fictional characters. TEAM ASH!

The plot was paced fairly well especially once the adventure started. Romance was cute, tension between Puck and Ash was relatable, Kings' and Queens' behaviours were justified. There is probably more to it but I am too hungry to think straight right now. :P I didn't really care for Ethan being kidnapped though, I am not heartless! I just didn't get it, the whole changeling thing was unnecessary but I think its part of the fae thing right?


The cover and book title is pretty amazing and I really like how the whole series has a common cover theme and that the titles are so appropriate.


Overall, the plot was very strong and I like how reality plays a part in the fae world. I really enjoyed the concept of imagination and creativity vs technology. Julie Kagawa has a great writing style, I could imagine everything she was describing and I can imagine this book translating to the big screen! This is a pretty unique theme for me, I assume it has not been used in other fae books? As you can probably tell I am still a little confused about the whole fae idea, I am hoping that the subsequent books in the series would straighten me out! I am more psyched about reading the next few books after writing this review, woot!

What you’re currently reading: Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami

His writing style takes some getting use to, could be the translations. He describes things in such detail that sometimes I think its really important but turns out to be nothing at all. Kind of confusing for me, takes awhile for me to get into it every time I pick the book back up to continue reading. 

Maybe after 600 pages of 1Q84 I am just not ready for another Haruki novel. (Btw, I still have 400 pages of 1Q84, its currently on hold)
