LIFE UPDATE:
The days after the Chinese New Year celebrations went by in a flash and its already Saturday, what? I was insanely busy trying to catch up with all my assignments due next week and I failed a little at posting on the blog ;( I did manage to sorta catch up but I missed out on Top Ten Tuesday. (I am a planner and it really irks me when I don't follow through with plans.) I am hoping to do better next week! Wish me luck :)
p.s. this week I am separating my StS with my Sunday Post because I am going to do my monthly wrap up with The Sunday Post! :) Watch out for it tomorrow!

BOOKS I BORROWED:
I went a little crazy:
(pardon the ugly library label stickers)
Each person is only allowed to borrow 8 books at any one time but obviously that is not enough for greedy me. I got a total of 11 books! How you might ask, well, just use your boyfriend's library card! :D Sidenote: I tried carrying all these at one go for this shoot and I nearly broke my toes. Also, I now face the problem of finishing all these in 3 weeks. :O EDIT: I just realised that I hauled a few of these last week, oops! Let's just pretend that these are all freshly borrowed this week :P
From L-R:
Falling Kingdoms: Came across a BookTuber, Thoughts on Tomes, while I was procrastinating about assignments the other day and watched a video of her gushing about the Falling Kingdoms series. Went out a few hours later and borrowed this. :) Can't wait to start on this!
The Graveyard Book Volume 1: I've been meaning to pick up the novel but I came across this at the library and decided to get this because I wanted my boyfriend to read it. He prefers comics > full length novels.
More Than This: So much hype surrounding this! Also, I feel like I am at the point in my life where I need some existentialist philosophy. This feels like the right book.
Snow Like Ashes: Another result of the hype train! Can't wait to love it :)
The Program: I love the cover! And wow a book about teen suicide as an epidemic in a dystopian world!? I had to have it!
Half Bad: This has gotten mixed reviews but it sounds really interesting so I wanna give this a go :)
Splintered: Read some amazing reviews about this and I love retellings so I can't wait to get into this too!
Unravel Me: Finished Shatter Me 1 week back and I really enjoyed it. Also, Pearl from Asterisk Pearl has been encouraging me to continue with the series and promises that it gets better, and so far so good!!! (Check her blog out ^^) update: I just finished and it is soooo good! Continuing with Ignite Me now.
My Life Next Door: Currently reading this as well and it is better than I expected! :)
A Great and Terrible Beauty: I've heard really great things about this series and I thought I would give it a go because boarding school! Who doesn't love a good boarding school story?
The Assassin's Curse: I read the back of this and ahh the romance sounds so good, hopefully it would live up to my expectations!
BOOKS I BOUGHT:
Just three this week! And these were thrifted, I bought these from 2 users from Carousell (its an app for Singaporeans and Malaysians to sell their secondhand stuff; ranging from clothes to toys to books). I love the high when you find something you really want at an affordable price!
Ask the Passengers: I've been meaning to pick up a book with LGBT characters and this seemed like one that I would really like so I got it at a steal too, of course!
Steelheart: This oversized paperback edition is worth SGD$23.67 on Book Depository but I got it for $10 in PERFECT condition (also I love the quality of the paper). WHAT A STEAL! The size doesn't match my paperback of The Final Empire but urgh I am not going to be anal about that. As long as the series match, that's good enough!
Let me know if anyone wants to buddy read any of these books with me! :) It'll be fun, promise!
Leave a comment if you have read any of the books and let me know your thoughts on it! :) Also, feel free to leave links to your StS post in the comments below!
I'd really love to read "Half Bad' when I get a chance. Happy reading!

DeleteThanks for dropping by too!
So thankful for Stacking the Shelves, otherwise I don't think I would have found your blog! Love the haul, and I basically want to read all of the books you've gotten. I think the two I'm most interested in reading are Falling Kingdoms and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Just followed you on bloglovin! Also, your pictures are great!

Great haul. I am bad about checking out too many books at the library, but mine has no limit. Check out my blog at http://bookertsfarm.blogspot.com/

DeleteThanks for dropping by! :)
Wow!! I love your haul!! Number 1, the pictures you take are gorgeous, number 2, you got a whole bunch of books I've been wanting to read for the longest time, and number 3, you got Unravel Me!! Lol, you know it's my fave!! You have to let me know how Snow Like Ashes, The Program, Splintered, My Life Next Door, A Great and Terrible Beauty, and Daughter of Smoke and Bone are!! I'm so jealous!!
ReplyDeleteAww thank you, I guess all that sweating while trying to take the first picture paid off lol! (It was a really hot day and I had to stand on a chair and bend over at a weird angle) And yes, all these have been on my TBR for awhile and I am determined to slowly reduce my TBR! I sure will! :D
DeleteWow, nice haul this week! I was just reading the reviews for The Program today. I am thinking about reading it since I'm pretty sure the sequel is coming out soon? I can't believe those books are thrifted, they are in such good shape! Whenever I get thrifted books they look soooo beat up. I hope you enjoy all your books. :)
ReplyDeleteMy StS
The sequel is already out! You might be thinking of the novella coming out this April! :) I can't believe it too! I think some of them are unread though, so it doesn't really count as a secondhand book?
DeleteThanks for dropping by! :)
Ask the Passengers is one that I have heard great things about. I loved King's Reality Boy book. More Than This & Falling Kingdoms are two that I've been meaning to pick up. I hope you enjoy your books and have a great week. :)

DeleteYou got some great books! I really want to start the Falling Kingdoms series I've heard such good things about it. I also picked up Snow Like Ashes this month - I love the cover!!! The Program is one that I want too. I keep trying to get my hands on that cover of Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but here in the UK we just have the ugly boring ones :( enjoy all of your books!!!

Why could read Snow Like Ashes together if you're up for it! :) Awww I hate ugly covers :(
DeleteThanks for stopping by! :)
SLA! The Program! Splintered! Steelheart! ALL THE BOOKS.
ReplyDeleteI love that you used your boyfriend's card, that's awesome! For me, we don't have a restriction to how many books we can borrow. In fact, I was able to borrow like 25 books one summer and I was able to read it in 6 weeks! It's awesome :)
